Advising and Academic Services --
The Office of Advising and Academic Services advises and counsels students who are on academic probation or dismissal and assists students with university regulation procedures (GE Course Substitutions, Leave of Absences, Retroactive Withdrawals, Course overlaps, etc.). The office provides specialized advising services for:
- Undeclared & all new undergraduate students
- Students with Credit Summary questions
- All students, faculty, and staff with general university questions via e-mail.
- EPT/ELM, Basic Skills, Upper Division Writing Compliance
- USTD 027 Individual Study Contract course
- Skills Workshops
Early Assessment Program (EAP)
Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) --
EOP is an admissions and support services program designed to assist students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds, meet specific income guidelines and demonstrate the potential to obtain a baccalaureate degree. The program provides a broad range of services including:
- Admissions
- Academic Advising
- Orientation
- Counseling
- Mid-Quarter Evaluations
- Tutoring
- Foster Youth Support
- Graduate School Workshops
- Financial Assistance
EOP also offers the Summer Transition and Enrichment Program (STEP). STEP is an intensive four-week experience for incoming CSUSB freshman. The program consists of academic classes, counseling services, university orientation, leadership experiences, cultural field trips and recreational activities designed to prepare students for the university experience.
Faculty/Student Mentoring Program (F/SMP) --
Faculty Student Mentoring Program (F/SMP) is part of a statewide effort to improve the access, enrollment, and retention of underrepresented students. New students are provided with a one-on-one relationship with an experienced CSUSB upperclass student to guide them through their first year of college.
Honors Program --
Honors Program is designed to meet the needs of highly motivated students who seek an exceptionally challenging intellectual experience. It provides opportunities including priority registration, special academic advising, integrated honors courses, participation in lectures, concerts & art exhibits, extensive library privileges, honors colloquia and seminars.
Learning Center --
The Learning Center offers many services for students and faculty. The three main services are: tutoring for undergraduate courses, make-up testing, and open computer labs. Also on hand, the Learning Center carries a variety of educational material such as VCRs, cassettes, and resource books. See our website for more information and hours of availability.
Student Assistance In Learning (SAIL) --
SAIL, the University’s federally funded Student Support Services project, serves 325 students each year. Eligible participants are students from low-income families, students whose parents have not earned a bachelor’s degree, and/or students with a learning or physical disability. The project’s goal is to provide a variety of supportive services to ensure students’ academic and personal success at CSUSB and their persistence towards graduation. Services include:

Testing Office --
The Testing Office administers tests applicable to admission, academic placement, and academic achievement. Information regarding the following tests can be obtained by contacting the Testing Office.

Writing Center --
The Writing Center offers tutoring/conferencing for students from all disciplines and at all stages of their composing processes. Tutors also conduct conversation groups and conferencing specifically designed for ESL students. As part of the university’s writing-across-the-curriculum program, Writing Center faculty and tutors consult with cross-disciplinary faculty members who are designing writing assignments for their courses. They also conduct in-class writing workshops and discuss manuscripts for publication.
