EOP Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Here are some additional questions with answers that students most frequently ask.

Q.  How does a student check the status of their EOP application?

A.  Call the EOP office at (909) 537-5042 and speak to the EOP Admissions Clerk.

Q.  Can students not accepted into EOP gain eligibility after attending CSUSB for one or more quarters?

A.  No.  The EOP determination is set at the time of admissions only.

Q.  Do Extended Opportunity Program & Service (EOP&S) students transferring from a community college, automatically become EOP students at CSUSB?

A.  No.  EOP&S students have an advantage over other applicants because they are familiar with an academic support program, but that does not guarantee admission.  EOP&S students are asked to declare their affiliation with EOP&S on Form 1, but must complete the same application process as everyone else.

Q.  After being accepted into EOP and CSUSB, what does EOP expect from the student?

A.  An EOP student must be responsible for the following:

  • Complete a minimum of 12 units per quarter with a 2.0 GPA
  • Meet quarterly with his or her counselor
  • Utilize academic support services on campus
  • Maintain current email, local address and phone number with the EOP office

Q.  Are EOP grants from financial aid automatically given to EOP students?

A.  No.  Not all EOP students receive the EOP grant.  The grant is part of the total financial aid award and is determined by the Financial Aid Office.  The grant is awarded based on the availability of funds, as well as the student's financial need and class level.  It is highly recommended that students apply early because awards are based on a first come, first served basis.

Q.  What if a student is applying to EOP and does not meet the requirements to be admitted into the university?

A.  EOP is allowed to admit a limited number of applicants each year that do not meet all of the requirements for admission.  Applicants that are considered for "special admission" must demonstrate the ability to succeed and obtain a baccalaureate degree.

Q.  If the application is post marked before the application deadline date, but is received by the EOP office after the deadline, will the application be accepted?

A.  All EOP application forms are accepted according to the date that is post marked.
