2009 STEP Application (Adobe Acrobat PDF Format)

The Program

The Summer Transition and Enrichment Program is an intensive four-week commuter experience for new freshman.

The program consists of academic classes, counseling services, university orientation, leadership experiences, cultural field trips and recreational activities.

Because STEP is intensive, students should expect to be engaged in full-time classes, assignments and program activities Monday - Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the week.

Strong emphasis is placed on the preparation necessary to successfully meet the rigorous challenges of university programs. Students are provided with all required books and academic supplies.

Eligibility

To establish eligibility to participate in STEP, students must do the following:
  1. Submit a California State University Undergraduate Admission Application, required documents and supplementary materials to CSUSB Admissions.
  2. Receive a letter of acceptance to the university from CSUSB Admissions or from the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).
  3. Submit a 2009 STEP Application to the address below. You may download and print the STEP Application by clicking the link above.

If selected to participate in STEP, students are sent a letter that confirms their acceptance and provides further details about the STEP program.

Program Information

CAPACITY: A maximum of 50 students will be admitted. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

COST: STEP pays for all program-related costs such as books, academic supplies, meals, etc. The only costs to students are for personal items and commuting expenses.

ELM/EPT: Students who have taken the English Placement Test (EPT) and the Entry Level Mathematics (ELM) test will be given priority for acceptance. Once EPT/ELM scores are verified, priority status is established. For more information about the EPT/ELM, contact the CSUSB testing office at (909) 537-5045 or visit the ETS testing website: www.ets.org.

DEADLINE: STEP applications received after June 25, 2009, will not be considered. Please note that the submission of an application will only establish eligibility, not acceptance. If accepted, students will be notified by STEP Coordinator.
