The IMP is designed for the first-time freshman entering CSUSB in the Fall 2008 quarter to get a jump start on college. If you did not perform to your full potential on the Entry Level Mathematics test (ELM), the IMP gives you another chance to start CSUSB fully prepared for one of the General Education mathematics courses. All students participating in IMP must take the placement exam on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 9:00 am in JB-102. This exam is used to gauge students' knowledge and skill level. All students are required to begin with Session I. However, if a student demonstrates significant knowledge and skill level on the placement exam, he/she will be invited to attend Session II only. Students, who attend all 10 days of Session I and successfully pass the exam on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, will be given a Credit by Examination (CBE) for Math 80 and will be invited to continue on to Session II. Students, who attend all 10 days of Session II and successfully pass the exam on Thursday, August 28, 2008, will be given a Credit by Examination (CBE) for Math 90 and will be eligiable to register for a General Education mathematics course in the fall. For a student to successfully pass IMP, regular attendance is required - no execeptions. New students are required to attend one of the SOAR 2 Success two-day sessions. Students participating in IMP should plan on attending one of the following SOAR 2 Success orientations because these will not interfere with IMP: June 25 and June 26 The Office of Dean of Undergraduate Studies is funding IMP, so you pay NO FEES to participate. However, you will need to purchase the 5-week Summer Session II parking permit for $36.00 or $4.00 a day for a daily permit. A parking permit can be purchased at the Bursars Office, UH-171. You can purchase a daily parking permit from any one of the permit dispensers on campus or from the Information Centers located on University Parkway or Coyote Drive.
