Intensive Mathematics Program (IMP)
The IMP is designed for the first-time freshman entering CSUSB in the Fall 2009 quarter to get a jump start on college. If you did not perform to your full potential on the Entry Level Mathematics test (ELM), the IMP gives you another chance to start CSUSB fully prepared for one of the General Education mathematics courses.
All students participating in IMP must take the placement exam on Monday, July 27, 2009 at 9:00 am in JB-102. This exam is used to gauge students' knowledge and skill level.
All students are required to begin with Session I. However, if a student demonstrates significant knowledge and skill level on the placement exam, he/she will be invited to attend Session II only.
Students, who attend all 10 days of Session I and successfully pass the exam on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, will be given a Credit by Examination (CBE) for Math 80 and will be invited to continue on to Session II.
Students, who attend all 10 days of Session II and successfully pass the exam on Thursday, August 27, 2009, will be given a Credit by Examination (CBE) for Math 90 and will be eligible to register for a General Education mathematics course in the fall.
For a student to successfully pass IMP, regular attendance is required - no exceptions.
