The Reading Improvement Program is designed for the first time freshman who, with some additional work on their reading skills, would be ready for English 101, the Freshman Composition course. Students qualify for this program based on an analysis of their EPT scores. Eligible students will receive an invitation to participate in the program. The RIP will provide intensive instruction in reading comprehension for eight days. RIP will be conducted September 2 - September 12. Students who attend ALL 8 sessions and demonstrate sufficient progress will have completed the developmental work in English required of them by the university, and they will be eligible to enroll in English 101 for fall quarter 2008. Because RIP ends so close to the start of the fall term, there will be only a limited number of seats still available in English 101. Students who cannot enroll in English 101 in the fall (when they are strongly encouraged to do so) will be able to enroll in English 101 in winter 2009. The estimated cost of materials is $100-120. This amount includes books, supplies, and parking. If you would like to participate in the Reading Improvement Program, click the link below, complete and submit the form online. On Tuesday, September 2, 2008, go directly to University Hall Room (106) at 1:00 p.m. |
