What is the purpose of the TOEFL?


The TOEFL Exam is designed to assess English proficiency of people whose native language is not English. The TOEFL Exam has four sections (1) Listening, (2) Structure, (3) Reading, and (4) Writing.

Who must take the TOEFL?


Most Undergraduate, Graduate, and post-baccalaureate applicants, regardless of citizenship, who have not attended schools at the secondary level or above for at least three years full time where English is the primary language of instruction.

When should the TOEFL be taken?


Each Institution has specific deadlines for submission of test scores. You should therefore allow appropriate time for the receipt of scores by the Admissions Office.

How do I prepare for the TOEFL?

When will the TOEFL be given?


The TOEFL is usually given year round, every day a test center is available.

How do I register for the TOEFL??


Register early to get your preferred test date, November through January are extremely crowded months for testing. You may register for the TOEFL by phone, online, or mail. Please contact TOEFL for more registration information.

How long do scores take?


Official scores for the TOEFL can take up to 4 to 6 weeks to be reported.
